Discovery Place is an interactive science museum located on Tryon Street in the Uptown area of Charlotte, NC, offering both adults and children the chance to engage in hands-on scientific exploration through a series of exhibits, experiments, activities and 3D films. Any visitor to the Queen City should not leave without stepping foot inside this one-of-a-kind experience.

This family-friendly museum is the perfect place to plan an event, including children’s birthday parties, and adult business parties, conferences and receptions. Or, simply plan a fun-filled day inside the museum with your family. Exhibitions and daily programs will make learning science and technology even more fun for your kids. Visit Discovery Place with a large group of 15 or more people and receive special benefits such as general admission pricing discounts, complimentary off-site parking with shuttle service, and guided tours.

Discovery Place is also the perfect spot for a school field trip in the Queen City. Teachers in Charlotte NC schools often bring their students here to learn about science in an exciting, interactive environment. And if you can’t visit Discovery Place, Discovery Place will come visit you. The museum offers off-site educational visits to schools and community groups throughout North and South Carolina as well. When school is out, both adults and children can explore the wonders of the museum through summer camps, family workshops or various adult programs. As science and technology is always changing, so are the exhibits and shows at Discovery Place. In any case, there is something for everyone, whether you are a resident of the Queen City or just visiting.

In addition to the museum, visitors can enjoy a truly unique 3D viewing experience in the Discovery Place IMAX Dome Theater. With the largest viewing screen in all of the Carolinas, the IMAX dome makes viewers feel as though they are immersed inside of every movie adventure. This is about as hands-on as watching a film can be.

No museum is complete without a gift shop. Discovery Place’s Shop Science store carries items for people of all ages, interests and budgets, with a focus on interactive science education. From science experiments that will let you build your very own volcano or grow a crystal forest, to games and even stuffed animals, there are plenty of souvenirs to choose from. Or you may want to buy a gift for a loved one. In that case, you can visit the online store to shop as well.

Discovery Place, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that operates the Discovery Place Museum in center city, along with the Charlotte Nature Museum next to Freedom Park in Charlotte, NC and Discovery Place KIDS, located in Huntersville.
