Charlotte's Bechtler Museum Makes Modern History

Published: 08/24/2011 by Madeline Ashleigh in Arts & Entertainment

As a sort of cultural center and artistic focal point, there are few Charlotte locales that can even come close to competing with the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. You can tell just from its name what this place is all about, and yet it is fair to say that there’s a lot more to the cultural import of the Bechtler than just its art exhibits. Indeed, the place is almost like living history, a museum that tells its own story and continues to inspire both locals and tourists alike.

Charlotte, North Carolina is a city that is known for many things. From the Carolina Panthers to some of the best restaurants and shopping in the South, the Queen City has something for everyone. For many residents and visitors, the NoDa Historic Arts District is a piece of heaven on earth—an artistic community that fosters independent small businesses and visionary artists in the Queen City.

The arts community in the Queen City is truly beginning to flourish. With the development of new venues like the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and the growth of older venues like the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, along with the development of the arts community in North Davidson, the city of Charlotte is becoming a haven for artists all over North Carolina.
