Established in 1948 by the Junior League of Charlotte, NC, The Children’s Theater of Charlotte is a nationally recognized theater and education organization, serving over 300,000 families and children a year. When it was first established, volunteers from the Junior League produced plays in school auditoriums. Later, in 1971, the Theater moved into a Queen City-owned building on Morehead Street and grew into a professional performance company.

Dance has long been a staple in the cultural offerings of any given region, and the South is certainly capable of competing with the rest of the country when it comes to the talent, capabilities, and professionalism of its dancers. The perfect example of a wonderful southern dance company, Charlotte, North Carolina is home to the North Carolina Dance Theatre. This company is the oldest ballet troupe in not only the Queen City, but in the entire state.
