This isn’t necessarily the biggest or most populous neighborhood in town, and it’s probably not the most iconic, either. Charlotte, North Carolina is a city that knows and loves the sport of golf. Indeed, you can’t go very far in the Queen City without bumping into a luxurious gold course and country club. Head to the southern point of the city—to the Ballantyne area—and you’ll find golf. Head toward Lake Wylie and you’ll find golf. Head toward a more centralized location, like Quail Hollow, and you’ll find—you guessed it—golf.

It’s probably fair to say that Ballantyne is one of Charlotte, North Carolina’s most affluent areas—and in a thriving, prosperous banking city that’s ever on the grow, that’s really saying something! Still, Ballantyne is known as one of the Queen City’s true centers of luxury. Locals hold it in high esteem as an area where simple elegance is prized, and where life is lived at a pace where frequent golf outings and trips to the spa are always in the cards.

Charlotte, North Carolina is a true golfer’s paradise, with beautiful courses and country clubs aplenty—including several PGA favorites. To find the really good ones, though, you sometimes have to venture off the beaten path a little. Take, for instance, the Palisades Country Club and its surrounding neighborhood, located just in the southwest corner of the Queen City, backed up against beautiful Lake Wylie, South Carolina.
